St. George/ Grand Canyon Trip

We went on our very first trip of the year to St. George and the Grand Canyon. We started out heading to St. George on Friday July 10th in the morning and getting there around 2:30 in the afternoon. When we got there, we went and hung out with my brother and his family and my two cousins Jaime and John who were also visiting. We went swimming and visited and Adam went shooting with my brother and John and then we headed to bed and got ready for another long drive to the Grand Canyon with my family.

We left St. George at 4:30 the next morning and got to the Grand Canyon around 8:30 am Arizona time (which is 1 hour ahead of Utah time) We then went to find a campground and got really lucky and found one for only $10 and it was a really nice space and very clean which we didn't expect to find. So we pitched our tents and had some lunch and then headed to go on our hike. We hiked the South Rim of the Grand Canyon

We got started our hike around noon and were so excited. We headed down to the Cedar Ridge which is 1 1/2 miles one way and is so beautiful. The kids were such troopers the whole time and we had some help from John and Ej. Adam and John took the kids on the way down and walked with them and carried them and played and just had so much fun.
Then we took a break at the Ooh Ahh point which is half way and took lots of pictures and enjoyed the beauty of the Amazing Grand Canyon.

We finally got down to Cedar Ridge Point where we took a long break and took more pictures. We saw lots of squirrels that were everywhere. Jacob tried to pet one but got nervous (so did we).
Then we headed back up to the top. And again, the kids wanted to walk and they did almost the whole way (both ways). They didn't want to be carried and they were so tired but they wanted to do it by themselves. We were so proud of them and how great they did the whole hike. Ej helped Adam and John with the kids on the way up and when we finally reached the top, we were all tired and ready for a nap.

We had such a fun trip! It was our very first family camping trip and really long hike and we loved every minute of it. We drove for about 25 hours there and back and while we were there. We are ready to go back and have a few more days to camp and explore more.
I am so grateful for the beauty that Heavenly Father has created and that we are able to enjoy it and see all of the wonderful things.
